Choosing Slow Even When You Can Go Fast

Just because you can rush doesn’t mean you should.

We live in a world that rewards urgency, speed, and constant movement. Slowness is often mistaken for laziness — but it’s actually a form of wisdom.

I’ve learned to intentionally slow my pace, even when life allows speed. I eat slower. I speak with more intention. I move through my day without the constant feeling of being chased by time.

Slowness has helped regulate my nervous system. It’s taught me patience, presence, and trust. I no longer feel like I’m racing against life — I’m moving with it.

The soft life principle: A calm, regulated nervous system is a form of wealth.

How to start: Choose one activity today and do it at half the speed you normally would. Notice how your body and mind respond.
